About Andrew Merritt
Andrew Merritt was first drawn to the field after a back injury in college required PT treatment. Originally pursuing mathematics, he discovered a passion for biomechanics, movement, and connecting with people, which led him to a career in health and wellness. He believes in physical therapy as “movement medicine,” whether for pain modulation, functional strengthening, or maximizing performance, PT can play a major role in allowing people to live the lives they hope for. Outside of the clinic, in high school, Andrew balanced performing in musical productions with starting on the varsity football team—a real-life Troy Bolton, as he likes to say (though he insists he wasn’t quite as cool or good-looking).
EDUCATION
PHYSICAL THERAPY PHILOSOPHY
I see physical therapy as movement medicine. Within reason, everyone can be an “athlete” in their own way, whether it is rehabilitation following surgery, returning to a previous functional level as an older adult, or managing chronic pain. PTs have a wide range of tools and techniques that all use the patient’s own body to reach their goals with PT guidance and focused performance.
What to Expect About Working with Andrew
I am someone who greets my patients with a smile and checks in on them each and every visit. I want to provide the level of care that I would want to receive as a patient, and that includes understanding a person and their experience in addition to their physical condition and functional abilities. I love to have fun and hope to spread some fun to my patients too!
His Expertise
I have personal experience of playing football as a fullback and offensive lineman for 8 years among other sports. I have begun to treat athletes from a variety of sport backgrounds including football, baseball, and track, and I enjoy treating a variety of patients no matter the background!
