About Nathan Appleby

Nathan is a Physical Therapist at MPOWER, serving patients at our Franklin location. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Sacramento State University and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Texas State University. With experience in a variety of physical therapy settings, primarily outpatient orthopedics, he enjoys helping patients of all backgrounds return to the activities they love, whether that means getting back to sports and exercise or simply being able to enjoy everyday life without pain. His passion for physical therapy began after experiencing several sports injuries himself as a high school athlete, giving him firsthand insight into the impact physical therapy can have on recovery and quality of life. Outside of MPOWER, he is married with two daughters and enjoys staying active, learning about nutrition and healthy living, and spending time with his family.

PHYSICAL THERAPY PHILOSOPHY
My philosophy is to treat the person, not just the painful body part. I want to understand what is important to each patient and what may be keeping them from doing the things they enjoy. I believe patients should understand their bodies and play an active role in their recovery, while I provide the guidance, education, and expertise to help them succeed. Ultimately, I want patients to leave therapy feeling better, more confident, and more capable of taking care of themselves moving forward.
What to Expect About Working with Nathan
I would tell a new patient that physical therapy is not always easy, but it should be rewarding. There will be challenging days, but those challenges are part of the process. I want patients to understand what we are doing and why, while taking an active role in their recovery. Most importantly, I want us to work toward a goal that matters to them, whether that’s returning to a sport, playing with their kids, getting back to the gym, or simply moving through everyday life with less pain.
His Expertise
I enjoy identifying movement impairments and limitations that may be contributing to pain and helping patients move more confidently. I especially enjoy working with athletes and helping them return to their sport stronger and more prepared than before. I am also passionate about treating acute and chronic low back pain and helping patients regain the activities they may have given up because of pain. Outside of physical therapy, I enjoy learning about nutrition, exercise, and overall healthy living.
